Meanwhile, Kim Do-Han (Joo Sang-Wook), who is the best paediatric surgeon, finds himself frequently in confrontation with Park Shi-On.
Years later, Shi-On travels to Seoul for the first time to receive training as a medical resident. As he arrives at the Seoul Station, a child is seriously injured by a piece of glass that falls from the ceiling. Shi-On has never practiced medicine before, but he is able to administer first aid from reading all those medical books. He then gets on the ambulance that takes the injured child and his mother to the hospital. Shi-On learns that the ambulance is going to Sungwon University Hospital, which is where he is supposed to receive resident training. He becomes relieved by the coincidence, because he is already late for his interview.

Meanwhile, Choi Woo-Seok, who is now the chief director at Sungwon University Hospital, attempts to convince the other directors to accept Shi-On for training. The group of directors are not happy about Shi-On. When Shi-On does not appear on time, they decide to turn him away for good. Shi-On, though, is right outside of the surgery room where the injured child is receiving surgery. In the emergency room, Do-Han (Joo Sang-Wook) and his team perform the surgery. After Shi-On learns that the surgery is a success, he goes to the meeting room, but only Doctor Choi Woo-Seok is there.
Shi-On goes to an apartment complex for hospital doctors where he will stay. When he sits down alone in the apartment, the apartment door opens and a woman enters. She eventually crashes on the bed. The woman is Yoon-Seo (Moon Chae-Won), a resident in pediatric surgery. She is completely drunk and entered the wrong apartment. Shi-On stands right next to the bed, watching Yoon-Seo sleep. And the Story goes on.

The series is a combination of courtroom drama and romantic comedy with elements of fantasy. After overcoming poverty and a difficult childhood, Jang Hye-sung (Lee Bo-young) becomes a lawyer, specifically a public defender, but she is pragmatic, self-preserving and jaded. Her life changes when she encounters Park Soo-ha (Lee Jong-suk), a high school boy with the supernatural ability to read other people's thoughts by looking into their eyes, and cop-turned-lawyer Cha Gwan-woo (Yoon Sang-hyun) who is cheerful and idealistic, though a bit of a dork.
Soo-ha gained his mind-reading ability after witnessing his father getting murdered ten years ago. His father's death had initially been dismissed as a car accident until Hye-sung, then a high school girl (Kim So-hyun), gave decisive testimony in court despite the killer's threats (Jung Woong-in), and Soo-ha has been searching for her ever since. As Hye-sung works with Soo-ha and Gwan-woo, she gradually lets go of her pursuit of money and glory. Together, this unlikely team use unconventional methods on their cases, proving that while sometimes justice is blind to a fault, she can still hear your voice.

As a child, Park Hoon (Lee Jong-Suk) and his father were kidnapped by North Korea. In North Korea, Park Hoon was trained to become a doctor by his father who was already a doctor. Park Hoon became a genius like chest surgeon. He then flees to South Korea.

Park Hoon begins to work as a doctor in South Korea's top hospital Myungwoo University Hospital, but he feels like a complete outsider. To bring his love from North Korea, he does anything to make money.

The name Ha Ryu means "a child flown from heaven." He was given this name by the nun who first found him in front of an orphanage; it came to her immediately the moment she saw his pure, innocent face. Ha Ryu's life began in earnest when he first laid eyes on Da-hae at the orphanage. Ha Ryu was a simple boy who disliked chores; however, for Da-hae, there was nothing he would not do or any place he would not go. Whenever Da-hae cried, Ha Ryu became too restless to do anything. But when Da-hae was adopted, they had to part. Ten years later, Ha Ryu runs into Da-hae again. He feels electrified and like he is losing his mind. Then and there, he swears that nothing will ever come between them again. He also promises himself that he will do anything and everything to make her happy until the day he dies. Da-hae is a bright young woman and Ha Ryu works day and night with all his strength to earn money to pay her university tuition abroad. No matter how tired he is, all he requires to be happy is Da-hae's smile. But over time Da-hae changes. Ha Ryu thinks it cannot be permanent when he admires her beauty and sophistication, like a bright, shining star. Even when she frames him for a murder, he tries to understand her. However, when she loses their daughter, Eun-byul, he finally snaps and he cannot forgive her. Ha Ryu changes, too. His wrath erupts like a volcano because of the betrayal of his one true love and turns Ha Ryu into a beast.
He, who was once a mere minion in a gang, makes his way to the top and becomes CEO of Baekhak Group, one of Korea’s leading companies. "I will bring you down with my own two hands and put you back to where you first began. I will step on you and hurt you more than you can imagine," he promises her and his bitter revenge against Da-hae, the woman he, for so long, loved more than life itself, begins... in the end Da-hae becomes the First Lady of Korea, then she is exposed for her crimes after she shoots and injures Ha Ryu. Ha Ryu then chases after her when Da-hae's step brother escapes with her. He confronts Da-hae for killing his father and when she admits to it he tries to run her over. Ha-Ryu jumps in the away and then he and Da-hae are both hit by the car. Da-hae, still conscious, cries and apologizes to a severely injured Ha Ryu. Then they both pass out and end up in hospital beds. They both imagine having conversations with each other when they were young and finally understand why they grew into the people they became. Ha Ryu wakes up from his coma only to find out Da-hae has passed away. Ha Ryu continues to live his life and ends the series back at the old house he, Eun-Byul, and Da-hae lived. He looks at the portrait Eun-Byul drew and thinks about all he has lost trying to pursue revenge.
